Diving into a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have found a variety of interesting independent titles. Yet, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a character that is actually a dung striving to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: just use a jump control. Throughout 150 levels, you'll face boss fights and access a market to acquire customizations for your fecal avatar.

Execute your jumps precisely, as a mistake means restarting the level. Leap using bubbles to propel your character upward, cross crumbling platforms, and touch triggers to unlock new areas. Gather UN-KOINS to purchase tougher levels as the action intensifies.

In terms of design, the game features eye-catching environments and a killer background music. The simple art with shifting abstract forms may remind gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to name previous releases where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment often featured toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as fertilizer. And of course, this theme appears extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already earned notable recognition, including taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible now on Steam, with the full game set to launch on Steam this November.
